MITR Sensitization Program
In January 2024, as the foundational step of the project, we introduced the MITR Sensitization Program. This involved creating and piloting a handbook for government school teachers across Mumbai, equipping them with culturally responsive practices and exercises to build more inclusive classrooms. The guide was first initiated at Vidyalankar School in Dadar in February 2024 and revised based on teacher feedback. Following this, the program was formally introduced across 4 schools in Mumbai, with plans to expand further in the coming academic year.
MITR Student Leadership Program
To deepen our direct impact, the MITR Student Leadership Program was developed in May 2025. This goal of this initiative is focused on empowering students to become responsible and dedicated peer mentors through a structured handbook. The program emphasizes on open dialogue, active listening and shared activities between both – student mentors and their migrant peers to ease social integration. A virtual copy of the handbook is also available as part of our accessible resources; furthering MITR’s mission of peer-driven inclusion and support.
